Welcome to Socials 8!

The purpose of this course is for you to learn more about yourself, your neighbours, and the world you live in. Socials 8 is geared toward “Big Ideas” about powerful people, ideas, conflict, and change and how those elements permanently marked the world we know today!

We will begin our historical, world journey in the 400’s and conclude in 1750 C.E. We will travel back in time to Medieval Europe, Japan, and the Arab World. We will look at advancements that emerged

during the period we now refer to as the "Renaissance."

We will explore the 'unknown world' with da Gama,

Magellan, and Columbus, to name a few, and learn

how their discoveries impacted humankind.

Research and note-taking will be a substantial part of this course. Should you be absent, check-in with Ms. Hannah to find out what you've missed. You can keep up-to-date by checking this website as well. Here you'll find worksheets, assignment criteria, and test dates.
